Many refugees endure profound trauma due to war, displacement, perilous migration, and the loss of loved ones. Acupuncture offers a way to alleviate both the immediate and long-term impacts of such stress and trauma. AWB employs community-style ear acupuncture, a simple, safe, and effective technique that helps individuals “reset” their nervous systems, fostering calmness, clarity, and tranquility.
Experiencing relief from chaos enables communities to reclaim hope, determination, and resilience, empowering them to move forward. To achieve this, AWB primarily uses the “NADA protocol,” which involves the placement of five needles on five specific acupuncture points on the ear. The NADA protocol originated in the 1970s, following the civil rights movement, and was developed in the South Bronx, New York, in collaboration with the Black Panther Party.
